This is one of the best spots for driftwood and for agate hunting. It's a drive, but the roads are nice to get there. You will loose cell phone reception and likely not have any/much reception when getting there. There's a campground and bathroom facilities. There are some challenging hikes to get to them, but beautiful waterfalls in the area.

Little Girls Point
E1930 Lake RdThis is one of the best spots for driftwood and for agate hunting. It's a drive, but the roads are nice to get there. You will loose cell phone reception and likely not have any/much reception when getting there. There's a campground and bathroom facilities. Black River Harbor has a harbor, pavilion, park, and beachfront. There's a neat suspension footbridge that you cross to get from the harbor to the shore that was built by the Army Corps of Engineers. It sways when walking and is a sturdy, yet exciting gateway to the shoreline. There are several hiking trails and 5 waterfalls along the road as the black river leads to Lake Superior. One waterfall is accessible with handicap access and others have 1/2-1 mile hikes. There are parking areas along the road and signs are helpful in letting you know what you're getting into. The Lake Ice is a sight to behold in winter!

Many nearby ski areas. Snowriver Resort; Jackson Creek Summit and Black River Basin. (Ski both on one ticket and ride the free shuttle between resorts as needed). Big Powderhorn ski area, the Porcupine Mountains, ABR, and a state-wide (& extending into WI) extensive snowmobile/UTV/four-wheeler trails.

Sunday Lake- walk the boardwalk and paths around the lake, rent kayaks or paddle boards, swim, play in the sand, have a picnic, or play in the park! Short drive to Lake Gogebic for great fishing!

Short drive off the highway ~28 min from the home. Quick access to the falls from a logging road and in spring, especially, falls that GO ON and ON! Hike and hike and you’ll keep seeing the cascade of falls! So much to discover and lots of funs to be had!

Pack Layers in Winter: How to stay warm
Wear a wicking base layer that will draw sweat away from your body and avoid sweating in your winter clothes before going outside and wear winter gear that can vent to avoid sweating during outdoor activity; it gets cold when you slow down or get outside! Next, wear an absorbent layer that will insulate, like cotton. Lastly, layer a sweatshirt or fleece as needed under a warm, wind-proof jacket. Helmets are strongly advised while performing year-round sports & add warmth in winter.
In ski boots- wear ONE pair of socks to allow for proper air circulation. Hand and Toe warmers help a lot too!
