Excellent blend of latin cultures in their food. Peruvian, Mexican, etc. It's lively atmosphere and drinks are perfect for hot sunny days.
Try the roasted pineapple mojito... It's amazing!

How can you come to the islands and NOT have some shaved ice (aka snow cone). Another place to go without leaving Kailua town, a refreshing shaved ice with tons of sweet island flavors to choose from like passionfruit or guava. Make sure to get it local style with ice-cream and azuki beans (Japanese sweet red bean).
Also great spot for local Kailua surfwear clothing.

Nestled at the edge of the sacred and historic Waiahole Valley, the old Poi Factory stands by the side of the highway offering amazing traditional foods like Laulau, Pipikaula, Kalua Pork, Poke and of course the native island staple - Poi.
They also offer refreshingly sweet Mamake Tea and Haupia (coconut pudding) for dessert or to quench your thirst.
The market right next door offers native made apparels and home goods to bring home made in the islands.

I grew up going up here as a kid for a nice short hike in our beautiful rainforests with a rewardingly cold dip in icy mountain waters with a view of the waterfalls. Go during the weekday as it will be less traveled but locals and tourists alike.

The best place to welcome ka Lā (the sun) in the morning. A short hike to the pillboxes left from World War II. The trail starts off steep and tapers off. Make sure you're dressed appropriately with the right hiking shoes and clothing. Layers best pending on how windy it can be. It can get cold.
Not recommended when raining and muddy. Very slippery at the start.
