Think Pike's Place or Philadelphia's Reading Terminal - local food, flowers, yummy deserts and pastries. It's not huge, but there are food options for everyone. We like Mastiff sausages - eat there or bring home and cook. Homemade mustards. There are empanadas, sushi, lobster rolls, crepes, and cakes and cookies. Next to Stone Brewery and Breakfast Republic (and several other restaurants at Liberty Station).

We like Mastiff sausages - eat there or bring home and cook. Homemade mustards. There are empanadas, sushi, lobster rolls, crepes, and cakes and cookies. Next to Stone Brewery and Breakfast Republic (and several other restaurants at Liberty Station).
50's Diner - for Families with kids, its close and a must. Lively servers are dressed in costume, burgers, shakes and it's busy, so don't be surprised by a wait! Walking distance or a 5 minute drive - Liberty Station.
If you don't have kids, don't add to your list!

San Diego charter fishing boats come and go from the pier here, and views of down town are lovely.. it’s almost always busy and closes earlier than some other local spots, so check before heading over.

There are tables outside, and up above. Several indoor tables,but no table service. Muscle your way to the counter, order and wait until your number is called. Parking is limited, so you may want to Uber. Wander to Eppig brewery next door for a beer, or walk along the path in either direction to glimpse gorgeous boats/yachts.

It's casual and not just for families, but there are probably better Italian options for couples looking for romance or fine dining. The pizzas are great (take-out, too), great anti-pasta salad. You can't eat just one roll! For couples or families without kiddos, check out Solare or Pomodoro.

The Prado restaurant takes reservations for sit-down dining, and the art museum has a great, little cafe.
