Sightseeing

Less than a mile from the house there's a quiet, beautiful stretch of the Truckee River. Your dog will love it! Go across the street to the trailhead at 330 Woodview Court (you can also use the trail in the backyard, but for the first time the trailhead makes it easier to navigate.) Follow the trail about 100 yards past several ancient cedar trees to the dirt road. Go right, downhill, until the trail becomes a road. Follow the road straight downhill. When the road turns right there is a trail straight ahead, which leads down to the river.

Neighborhoods

The house is in the Tahoe Park neighborhood, which is on the fabled West Shore of Lake Tahoe and a part of Tahoe City. The neighborhood is also sometimes known as Sunnyside. The house belongs to the Lake Tahoe Park Association HOA beach, arguably the nicest HOA in the area. The HOA has a huge stretch of private beach (dogs allowed!), two piers, reservable BBQ & picnic areas, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, bocce, and a playground. Next to the HOA is Sunnyside Resort, a Lake Tahoe classic, with a huge lakefront patio with restaurant and bar, a marina, and a watersports school and powerboat/jetski rental shop. Enjoy a cold beer or a great meal, rent equipment, even take water sport lessons. Also next to the HOA is the West Shore Market, which provides grocery basics, a deli and pizza counter, and espresso / cappuccino. Spoon Restaurant and Fireside Cafe are across the street, as is a rental shop for bikes, paddle boards, kayaks and the like. Nearby Tahoe House Bakery offers delicious baked goods and fresh coffee in a charming setting. Near Tahoe House is New Moon, an organic marketplace with a really great (but not always open) deli and bakery. "WoodView" truly describes the house. The house is tucked away in a cul-de-sac, so after the bustle of Lake Tahoe in the summer, come home to a quiet stay in the woods. The National Forest is accessible right from the back yard, for either hiking or mountain biking. An immense network of trails will take you to the Tahoe Rim Trail, and then all the way to the Sierra Crest Trail, without crossing a road. A must-see is the famed Paige Meadows, a string of alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers. The Truckee River, Tahoe City, Granlibakken Resort, Ward Canyon, Twin Peaks, Blackwood Canyon and Eagle Rock are popular destinations. One of the best Lake Tahoe look-outs is only steps away. A short walk through the woods brings you to an extraordinary view of the lake. It's a locals' favorite for instant inspiration, longer contemplation, or a glass of wine. It may become a twice-daily ritual for you, as it is for us! We are truly lucky to be in this location. Come see for yourself, we'd love to meet you.
