It is ideal for anyone hoping to get beautiful crystal clear water photos, view rows of amazing boats and admire the towering escarpment in the backdrop. The beach itself is mixed with sand and pebbles with a few treed areas for shade. Arrive in good timing because this beach gets pretty busy in the summertime with downtown Thornbury only a couple blocks away! There are several in the area to check out throughout the fall season with tons of fun activities including 4-H shows, ambassador competitions, tractor and horse pulls, horse shows, and lots more. Markdale kicked it off fall fair season in the last weekend of August, other community fall fairs to look forward to include Meaford, Beaver Valley (Thornbury), Feversham, Rocklyn, Collingwood and more! Fall Fairs are fun for the whole family and a great way to celebrate our small towns!

Truly my favourite ! This shale beach offers a glimpse into our past locked in the fossils in the rocks. Water shoes are advised as the rocks are slippery. Its a great place to launch your SUP or kayak.
