From the Coast Path you get dropped right into the pub garden! This pretty shielded bay is ideal for gently mastering paddleboarding or sadcastle building. It also hosts an annual competitive bay swim.

City/town information
The seat of governance and thus Capital of Cornwall (NEVER question it's nationhood to a Cornish citizen) has changed many times over the years. Launceton, Bodmin and now Truro. Other towns grew up around major industries, mining. quarrying, fishing and farming.
With bustling shops and the countries newest gothic catherdral Truro is home to pubs, Skinners Brewery Taphouse and holds pride of place atop a beautiful creek. The place breathes twice a day with the tide so check the times and grab a ferry ride to the coast if the place gets too busy. Lemon Quay and the covered paneer markets are great places to find a little cornish keepsake to take home.

Royalist stronghold of old - Fowey guards the Eastern side of St Austell Bay, steep streets hide unexpected views out to sea and along the green fields and beaches of the Saints Way. Dont be too shocked to see some truly magfnificent ships. Those waters are deeper than they look. Scaling down a little - Fowey is also home to birds, kayaks and the occasional amorous swimming deer.

The Clay District really is the heart and soul of St Austell Bay - only locals seem to know and love the sweeping abandoned open cast clay pits but I kinda wish others would share it too. Unique is an over used term but the Clay Trails really do define 'here'.
