Perched on top of Eataly in the Flatiron, the 14th floor Baita/La Birreria is an excellent match for seasonal cravings as it serves up grilled meats, house-made sausages and brewed-on-site cask ales. Open year-round thanks to a retractable glass roof, this unfussy space with utilitarian wood tables and red metal chairs shines during the summer season when the breeze is gentle and the sun is warm. As for view, the Empire State Building peaks over the rooftops. Website: eataly.com

Da Andrea Ristorante - 35 W 13th St, New York - Phone:+1 212-367-1979 – Open every day: Sunday to Thursday 5pm-10pm and Friday to Saturday 5pm-11pm This is where we dine when in the city and want to eat authentic Italian. We took many friends and everybody always comes back time and time again. When we ask our out of town friends where they want to go for dinner, invariably they say Da Andrea!! It’s a small neighborhood restaurant but the food is delicious and truly authentic. The prices are unbeatable for Manhattan! If you go just let them know that you are staying at Ralph and Rossella Aquila’s apartment and they’ll treat you extra nice! Here’s what Zagat says about it: "Delicious” house-made pastas and other Emilia-Romagna standards are a "steal" at this "cozy", "unpretentious" Villager; with "warm", "friendly" staffers keeping the vibe copacetic, it's no wonder "neighborhood" denizens come back "time after time."

STK Rooftop - 26 Little West 12th St., - Phone: +1 646-624-2444 A chic clientele samples steak & scenery in this sleek Meatpacking District setup with a roof deck. Above STK in the Meatpacking District, this fourth floor rooftop temple of meat looks out at the towering Standard Hotel and across Hudson River on the west side of Manhattan. A quality dining option in a neighborhood known mostly for its nightlife, this is the place to devour naturally raised meats (helpfully portioned in standard or petit packages for smaller appetites) from beneath the shade of an umbrella on comfy outdoor couches. Though wooden tables and glowing lanterns are on the casual side, the atmosphere fits right into the glitzy neighborhood and you’ll see more heels and starched shirts than flip-flops and Ts. Reservations are recommended.

New place on Park Ave. The menu is seasonal - changing only a few times a year and consists of 8 to 10 "savory" dishes and a about 6 to 8 desserts. The premise is a fixed price for your choice of either a 3, 4, or 5 course dinner where 1 course must be a dessert. Other than that, all of your choosing. BYOB. 10% discount if you pay in cash!

Sometimes called “the sixth borough,” Hoboken is known to have more bars per capita than many others in the United States. The W hotel has a nice lounge called the Living Room with incredible views, however you can just walk around Hoboken and stop at places that you might like. The waterfront city offers nightlife destinations for every taste, from ladies who are looking to mingle with friends over cocktails, to relaxed sports bars, to lounges with a view of the Hudson and NYC skyline.

If what you want is a chill and intimate place to relax and hear some great music- this is one of the best I've experienced in the village. The music ranges from singer-songwriter to modern chamber, jazz and classical music. There's really no place to hide here- so if a seat is open, it's free to sit in. I'd say the room holds 40 people at most- so it's very intimate. The pace is relaxed so do not expect quick service but they won't rush you either. Because the room is small- the music rarely ever gets so loud that a conversation can't be heard- which also means that a loud conversation next to you may occasionally feel disruptive to the music- however it rarely lasts too long before everyone is fully immersed in the music again. When the music is playing- most people are all-in with their attention on the music, and conversation happening in-between songs or sets. A tip jar is passed for the musicians- all of it goes directly to them rather than the venue taking a cut of a cover charge. Many of us appreciate that there is no cover charge and drinks are average prices for Manhattan.

Iconic Jazz club. They also serve good food but the music is the reason to go here. The Blue Note is the city's premier jazz club, and in the past has presented acts such as Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Lionel Hampton, Oscar Peterson and The Modern Jazz Quartet among prestigious regular performers there. It is still considered one of the world’s most famous jazz venues and one of the best known in New York. It's expensive, but the music makes it a 'MUST' experience for Jazz lovers.

A BIT OF HISTORY If from Liberty Place you make a right on Boulevard East you will see the Historical marker of the Burr-Hamilton duel in Weehawken which took place on a ledge 11 paces wide and 20 paces long, situated 20 feet (6.1 m) above the Hudson on the Palisades. This ledge, long gone, was the site of 18 documented duels and probably many unrecorded ones in the years 1798–1845. The most famous is the duel between General Alexander Hamilton, first Secretary of the Treasury, and Colonel Aaron Burr, sitting third Vice President of the United States, which took place on July 11, 1804. It was re-enacted on July 11, 2004, the 200th anniversary of the fatal duel, by descendants of Hamilton and Burr. In the mid-19th century, James G. King built his estate Highwood on the bluff that now bears his name, and entertained many political and artistic figures of the era, including Daniel Webster.
