This popular biking and walking path runs nearly 7 miles along Sand Creek through the heart of Newton to Bethel College in North Newton. Easy access to the path is available at Main Street and 24th (walk north) in North Newton, or Athletic Park, just west of downtown on Fifth Street, or from the Kauffman Museum in North Newton. The trail is mostly paved, with more wooded, unpaved portions near Kauffman Museum. Water fountains -- for people and dogs -- are located along the trail as are benches and a boat dock at Fourth Street. Hours for Sand Creek Trail are sunrise to sunset.

The museum shop offers puzzles and toys for children, wheat weaving, jewelry, books and items produced by local artists. The museum grounds also feature a tallgrass prairie reconstruction, an 1875 house and 1886 barn. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays.
