Sprawling park with lots to do. There are plenty of hiking trails (mostly paved) with beautiful views of the city and the Hollywood sign. You can walk to the top and check out the Griffith Observatory (or drive). There's plenty of things for kids to do, including check out the merry-go-round or enjoy play structures scattered throughout the park.

If you Hike to the top, walk along the permitter to check out the MLK quotes and gorgeous views of downtown (as long as it's not hazy)

Cute neighborhood close by. There are restaurants and coffee shops on Main st and shopping options on Pacific Coast Highway. El Segundo beach offers a convenient beach with parking. The views behind the beach are quite industrial, but if you look towards the ocean you'll soon forget :)

Iconic beach community! Clean and lively beach, ample shopping, and restaurants near by. Note that there is a steep hill when you leave the beach, be prepared to walk. Don't forget to take photos on the famous Manhattan Beach Pier!

Check out this famous LA beach community! The bustling pier is coming back to life with a ferris wheel, boardwalk food and fun activities. It does get very busy, so if you are not into crowds, I'd check out other things in the area. Visit Palisades Park for beautiful views of the coast from up high. I like to pick up takeout from surrounding restaurants and have a picnic at sunset. In my experience, Santa Monica is always cooler than other parts of the city. Make sure to bring a jacket and maybe pants. PS- I secretly hum Sheryl Crow's "All I wanna do" every time I drive down Santa Monica Blvd :)!

I love Culver City - home to many of LA's studios. Lots of parks, fun vibes on Culver Blvd where there is a strip of restaurants. Check out the new Culver Steps area where you can grab food and relax on the steps.
