City/town information

Brighton is a great city to explore, you can reach it from Pear Tree cottage via bus (20 mins), cycle or walk (6 miles). There's so much to do there, you can ride the Volks railway along the seafront, (park at Marina for free for 4 hours and catch the train from Black Rock station, a short walk from Marina, drops you at Brighton Pier) explore the pier, take a Zip wire ride, explore the quirky Upside Down House, visit Brighton Pavilion, I360 for amazing views over the city and sea, Sealife centre, Brighton Toy and Model Museum, indoor glow in the dark crazy golf at Globalls, outdoor crazy golf at Jungle Rumble, 10 pin bowling at the Marina, the North laines for quirky shops. For theatre there is Brighton open air theatre, Lantern Theatre and Theatre Royal. For cinemas there is cineworld at the marina or the Duke of York Picturehouse, Britain's oldest cinema with the iconic pair of legs on the top of the building. There is the Corn Exchange, Brighton Dome, Concorde and Brighton Centre for gigs and other events as well as numerous pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants. We'd recommend checking out the Busby and Wilds pub/restaurant in Kemptown, owned and run by friends of ours, plus they were in the top 20 restaurants for Brighton 2020. Iydea veggie take away in the laines is another favourite of ours along with Grubbs burgers! Lots of great street art around Brighton and currently there is a David Bowie exhibition on at the Brighton Museum & Gallery until January 2022. There's a Go Karting track 20 mins outside Brighton off the A23. Phileas Fogg's World of Adventures escape rooms. There are many more events in Brighton throughout the year, here's a few: In May and December there is the Brighton Festival and Artist open houses, numerous theatre and music events linked to the festival and the children's parade. Also the Great Escape Music festival. June is the classic car run and Brighton half marathon. Early August is Pride and the speed trials on Madeira Drive. September is the VW run. November is the Veteran car run, a chance to see some very old classic vehicles. December 21st is the Burning of the Clocks parade through Brighton and the Ice Skating Rink is outside Brighton Pavilion.
