Santa Clara lake is great for going for a swim on a hot summer's day. The water is delightfully refreshing and beautiful to behold. It is around 20 minutes drive from the studio.

The monthly Saturday market is a must
The small but vibrant monthly market on the first Saturday of every month is a joy to visit. You'll find locals selling second-hand and antique wares, local and international produce and food, and a range of creative offerings like clothes, jewelry and more. It's open from around 9am - 2pm on the first Saturday of every month in the center of town, near the Junta (the same building as the post office, just behind the ATM)

Monte Sahaja — Center for Self-Realisation
Many come to the area to visit or live near Monte Sahaja, the home and spiritual center of Mooji, a renowned spiritual teacher.
It's important to be aware that Monte Sahaja is not a drop-in center, and that one must apply in advance to visit or stay. You can find out more on Mooji.org/monte-sahaja

A little Portuguese goes a long way
It is customary to greet people you meet or even pass by with a simple "Bom dia" (good morning) or "Boa tarde" (good afternoon).
Learning at least a few basic phrases is appreciated. It is also very useful as not many in this area speak a second language other than Portuguese. Here are a few more to get you started:
Obrigado / Obrigada – Thank you (use the 'o' ending if you are a man, use the 'a' ending if you are a woman)
