This is a gem. From our home this is a 15 minute walk through the Vondelpark. Café, restaurant. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, little terrace, good food. We always feel at home at Gent a/d Schinkel!

A soup bar and salad bar in one. Nice atmosphere, food is really good. Not cheap, but worth it. Take away and a few small tables inside. I love their apricot, spinach, goat cheese salad. Lekker!

New bakery! We love their Maisbrood and Speltbrood. They also have surprisingly good coffee. There is a small attic with tables.

Bosco simply has the best terrace in our neighborhood. On sunny days it is the ideal place to get some sun! This is a friendly place, with a nice choice of breakfast, sandwiches and snacks. Close to a busy road but also on the edge of a lovely part of town (Bosboom Touissantstraat / De Genestetstraat).

We recently discovered this boat rental company. An electric boat with room for 8 gives you the chance to view the city and its famous canals from the water, a great experience even after living in this city for over 20 years. Steering these boats is all very easy, just follow the rules. The Nassaukade is a 15 minute walk from our home. Just bring something to eat and drink and enjoy! Make reservations through their website IN ADVANCE. We would recommend going at 20.00h (during summer months), for a 2 hour trip.

On the plus side: you will get to see the area between Amsterdam and the ocean - famous for its flowers! Parking can be dramatic during summer holiday so either leave very early and have a morning stroll and breakfast OR go for dinner!

Simply the best flower shop there is! Gorgeous flowers, vases. Arjan and his friendly staff sell ready made bouquets but also have a large selection of flowers. Even if you do not buy anything his shop is worth a visit.

This museum is dedicated to bags! What makes it extra special is the fact that it is housed in a gorgeous, ancient canal house. It is possible to see the dining room, the old kitchen and thus get a taste of how noble families lived in the Golden Age. Beautiful garden too.
