Our house is just at the base of Mt. Greylock, the tallest peak in Massachusetts! The visitor center and road that takes you to the top of the mountain is just five minutes across the street from our house. There are hiking trails you can access from there as well. Gorgeous views on the drive up, and a monument at the top of the mountain that you can climb for spectacular views of surrounding towns and mountain ranges stretching for miles. Especially fantastic during fall foliage!

Mount Greylock State Reservation Visitor Center
30 Rockwell RdOur house is just at the base of Mt. Greylock, the tallest peak in Massachusetts! The visitor center and road that takes you to the top of the mountain is just five minutes across the street from our house. There are hiking trails you can access from there as well. Gorgeous views on the drive up, and a monument at the top of the mountain that you can climb for spectacular views of surrounding towns and mountain ranges stretching for miles. Especially fantastic during fall foliage!

In the fall it's a super fun place to visit with hayrides, pumpkin patch, and kids activities. There is a petting zoo year-round. Our family has been coming here for years for our holiday traditions.
We love going here to pick our own strawberries in the summer (usually June). It's just five minutes from our house!

Pontoosuc Lake is just under ten minute from our home. You can find boat rentals there, and there is a grassy area amongst the trees that's perfect for dinner at sunset. The views of the mountains across the water here are gorgeous.

If you're looking for a beach getaway, Onota is the place. About 15 minutes from our house. It has sandy beaches that are perfect for swimming and picnicking, and a boat launch (if you bring or rent your own kayak). Water is super clean and great for swimming.

Hiking "The Cobbles" is a local favorite because it provides such an amazing view! They are a rocky outcropping in the next town over, Cheshire, overlooking Cheshire Lake. The trail is part of the Appalachian Trail. The hike up to is somewhat challenging since it's all uphill but SO worth the view!! Great place to bring your lunch. Hiking up and back is 4 miles.

Stunning and unique place to visit, it is alongside an old Marble Quarry. Great place to take a picnic if you're exploring North Adams.
This is a weird local oddity--a glacial "erratic" which means a HUGE boulder that was left behind by a glacier millions of years ago. This giant boulder was pushed on top of another rock, and it still is balanced there to this day! Hiking trails are accessible nearby.

The Old Forge is a rustic pub that locals flock to for their FAMOUS and award-winning chicken wings! They have over 300 beers and a rotating selection of at least 30 on tap. Awesome food in a cozy setting.

La Fogata means "bonfire," so they're known for traditional BBQ meat dishes. Think rice and beans, plantains, avocado salads, and fruit shakes. Delicious!!!

We absolutely LOVE MASS MoCA! Highly recommend taking an entire day to explore this 19th century factory turned contemporary art museum! The architecture of the buildings rivals the thought-provoking art you can see here. Deena used to work as an art educator at MASS MoCA so she can tell you lots about it. :) They have a cafe and ice cream and also movie screenings and concerts. Definitely a place to check out!!

The Clark Art Museum is a great place to see some classical art and take a hike outside--they have gorgeous trails through cow fields behind the museum. This Museum is more "traditional" with oil paintings and is known for its Impressionist collection.

We are just 30 minutes north of the famous center for classical music, Tanglewood! They are known for outdoor summer concerts on the lawn. Check their offerings--they often welcome popular rock bands as well as their classical and jazz artists.

Williamstown is absolutely gorgeous. It gets its name from Williams College, and the campus is so beautiful it is worth a visit. Spring Street, the main street through town, has lots of interesting shops and restaurants and ice cream! Also hit up the Williams College Museum of Art while you're there.

North Adams is funky and quirky and full of art! Lots of cute local shops line the main street (think art galleries, musical instruments, plant stores). There are Museums and art galleries to visit, North Adams Yoga Studio, murals to see as you walk around, and lots of fun restaurant options.

Fun clothing stores, toy stores, candy shops, art supply stores and galleries, a crystal shop. Barrington Brewery is also worth a visit! (Southern Berkshire County tends to be a little more upscale in price, however)
