In Shrewsbury a pretty town park surrounded by The River Severn. A must see is The Dingle in the centre of the park ..a flower display like no other!!

In Shrewsbury ..A great little boat trip on the River Severn with an informative commentary about Shrewsbury. It starts at Victoria Quay and takes you on a trip around the perimeter of the Quarry Park and down almost as far as The English Bridge.

Further along the A49 from Church Stretton going south is Ludlow. It is about 20 miles from us. It has a beautiful castle, buildings, a river, market square, a foodies paradise and a rather good brewery! Tourists love Ludlow.

About 6 miles from us another favourite local walk is The Lawley. It's only a hill but as you walk along the ridge it feels like you are on a mountain.... great views and fresh air !!!

Not too far from Ironbridge is RAF Cosford. This is about 25 miles east of us on the M54. Some of our guests have enjoyed a visit here.

About ten miles south of us on the A49. Church Stretton. A little town at the foothills of the beautiful Longmynd. A great place to start and finish a walk in the Shropshire hills. Some great cafes we like Berry's cafe.

Not t far from Ludlow on the A4117 going East is The Clee Hill. The views from the top are amazing!!
To get to the Clee hill there is a left turn which is a bit hidden you need to watch out for at Angel bank. If you get to the village of Clee hill you have gone too far.

About 25 miles north of us is Ellesmere. North Shropshire by contrast to South Shropshire is quite flat. Ellesmere is a great day out . We particularly like Colemere only a couple of miles from Ellesmere.

A drive west from us into Wales of about 30 miles is Llangollen. We love it here. It has a river, canal with the world famous Pont Cysyllte Aquaduct not far away, a steam train .. great places to walk to and from..

A wee ramble/walk
A nice local walk from us down bridleways and quiet back lanes. Visit Church Pulverbatch church. Carry on to Pulverbatch to The Knapp a wonderful place for a picnic. Visit the White Horse for a pint and catch bus back to us... perfect!!

Take a walk along the guided footpath for Spectacular views across into Wales of Cadair Idris in the distance...SEE GREAT SUNSETS from the top mine on Cothecott hill.
Turn left at top of our lane past The Red Lion. keep going through Pulverbatch you will climb a steep hill just over the to be ready for a small free car park at mine Cothecott Barytes mine ( brown tourist sign) Walk up the sign posted footpath to the old mine. The views are stunning across into Wales including Cadair Idris on a clear day. Sunsets to die for. stunning!!

About 2 miles from us , a nice walk along an almost traffic free lane is Earls Hill and the Pontesford Nature Reserve. A wonderful place!!!
