Food scene with nearby sightseeing and epic river swimming
Although this place is about 13 miles from the center of town, its a local FAVORITE! They serve delicious food from the grill, such as locally sources beef burgers and ribs. They ALSO serve delicious vegetarian options, such as the Yana's Special, which is a variety of veggies, egg and cheese on a toasted bun, and their amazing Greek Salad.
Black Butte River Ranch

Casino
This Casino provides only slot machines. Many locals frequent here. I'd go much more often if there were table games, but HEY! ...Slots are some people's thing :)

Small Lake Vibes deep in the woods
Be sure to check with the local Ranger Station before planning a trip to this lake. Some times of the year it can be really nice to visit, but its way up in the woods and you should always check for info on its current condition.
Howard Lake

River Wonders
There are many wonderful swimming places along the Eel River.
If you're looking for a quick dip, hop on over, just across the street from the Black Butte River Ranch Store & Grill. You'll see a parking lot with a 2 minute walk down to a beautiful swimming hole. If its looking a little shallow, walk right for 2 minutes and you'll find a sandy beach with shade and a deep swimming hole.
If you're looking for more of an adventure, ask the staff at the Black Butte store or at the Forest Service Station for directions to the Falls. Its about a 1 minute drive up the M1 road from the Black Butte Store, then about a quarter of a mile hike down hill to an unforgettable swimming hole. You'll have 2 main options: 1 will be the first hole you reach with sand to your left, BUT if you look ahead over rocky landscape you'll see some big rocks with a real deep swimming hole. This place is epic. Its a favorite spot to many. Be sure to pack snacks and water.

Grocery Store
If you need food either prepared or to cook this place is jsut up the road, a 3 minute walk. They sell most typical grocery store supplies, along with many other specialty items. The management is incredible and the service is typically fast and kind.

Sightseeing
You'll pass this place near the end of the Covelo Road. You'll know your there when you see a large stone with a historical plaque that tells of some local history. It's a great place to capture the view of our special valley, our island in the mountains! Sunrises and sunsets are epic here. Also the star view.
