It is close to Sipplingen, located in Überlingen right by the Münsterplatz, 2 streets away from the lake beside the Promenade. You can get here easily and quickly with the bus or train for free using your Echt Bodensee Card.

This is a nice, local restaurant in Überlingen with a locally well-known chef. This is a bit fancier than other restaurants in the area with a modernized German menu to peak your tastebuds! You can view their menu online but we would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something different, modern cuisine and a bit more upscale. They aren't open very late so double check their opening times on their website. Small Tip: You don't have to drive. You can take the bus or train here for free with the Echt Bodensee card- Sipplingen to the Überlingen Hauptbahnhof and walk here. Easy!

This bakery is located in Ludwigshafen, ca. 4 km. This is a local favorite and they have a different selection of baked goods than the Baader Bakery in Sipplingen. They offer a full bar and good food like burgers, salads and different types of Flammkuchen (it’s like a pizza). There are tables and large lounge sofas with small "fire pits" on the tables in the evening to give it a nice ambiance. This is a great, stylish place to go to have a drink, eat a casual meal, go for a swim in the lake and just enjoy the lakeside ambiance. Definitely recommend! Please just make sure to check the opening days and times online and maybe call to verify also as they have different hours based on the seasons. Small tip: in the summertime, if the Sipplingen beach is a bit crowded (especially on nice days) you can go have a cocktail and go swimming directly off their private pier into the water where it is less crowded.

This is a nice city to visit for the day and there are 2 castles in the city center, one old Fortress with a drawbridge and a new style pink castle. Both are only a few minutes walking distance from each other. The old fortress has an amazing lake view. Meersburg is a main ferry port that you can take your car across the lake to Konstanz from here. (you can also walk on the ferry, your choice) There are also several big souvenir shops in the city center if you are looking for gifts to bring home. Check the Meersburg castle opening times on their website. Small Tip: You can get here for free with the bus using the Echt Bodensee Card that is included with the Sipplingen Kurtaxe. This is nice because you can have some local Meersburg wine without having to worry about driving... or finding parking.

You could pair together visiting Lindau and Bregenz (just across the border in Austria) in the same day if you leave early in the morning. You can just buy a train ticket from Lindau to Bregenz so it is cheaper than buying then train ticket all the way from Sipplingen to Bregenz.

Lindau
If you want to take a small and easy day trip, go visit Lindau! It is on the other side of the lake and the last major German city before the Austrian Border. It is one of the largest cities around the lake. There are lots of cute shops, restaurants, large stores, museums, history and more and it is nice to just walk around and see what you will discover. There are always lots of events going on in Lindau so check the city website to see what is happening on the day you want to go. Small tip: You can of course drive there from Sipplingen or you can also get there by train for free from Sipplingen to Lindau city center using your Echt Bodensee Card you get free with the Sipplingen Kurtaxe, that way you don't have to worry about parking. You could pair together visiting Lindau and Bregenz (just across the border in Austria) in the same day if you leave early in the morning. You can just buy a train ticket from Lindau to Bregenz so it is cheaper than buying then train ticket all the way from Sipplingen to Bregenz.

The Widenhorn staff and family are very friendly and welcoming to everyone and enjoy answering your questions about plants and gardening. Maybe you can find some inspiration or tips or plants for your own garden to take back home with you! Located in the "back" of Sipplingen in the Gewerbegebiet... only 5 minutes walking distance from the apartment!

There is also a beautiful nature reserve park with different wildlife, including very large storks, fallow deer and more in their own habitat. Definitely worth going to see if you love animals and nature! Fun for adults and children, not expensive, we would recommend this for everyone! Not far from the apartment, ca. 15 minute drive.
Family fun at the waterpark! This is in Switzerland, close to Zurich but it is not a very far drive. When you leave the Bad Duerrheim Solemar Therme, your skin feels sooooo good from the salt water! Check their website for opening times. It is mostly indoors so you can go on a rainy or cold day.

Small Tip: Before or afterwards, you can walk across the street to the Markgraf von Baden winery (it is maybe a 5 minute walk). They have a very good restaurant, including a special priced lunch menu, and of course very good wine! Call in advance to check the opening hours of the restaurant.

Small Tip: you can of course drive here, it is only ca. 4km away or you can take the train or bus for free one stop to Ludwigshafen using your Echt Bodensee Card included with your Sipplingen Kurtaxe. Then you can rent the bike and ride it back to Sipplingen along the bike path. It is mostly flat and an easy ride. Of course when you return the bike in Ludwigshafen, you can take the bus or train back to Sipplingen for free. Easy!

You must check their website for info on their opening times as they do not accept reservations, it is first come, first serve. The food is vegetarian and just delicious! And the wine... it is really some of the finest in this region. They also offer occasional "Open Air Cinema" Movie Nights in the vineyards which is really a fun and unique experience. Fräulein Seegucker is not heavily advertised so now that you know about it, check the website and put Aufricht Winery and Fräulein Seegucker on your "to do" list for your Lake Constance holiday :)

Although there are larger movie theaters available in Friedrichshafen with more movie options, this is a very small theater but it's perfect for an unexpected rainy day. It is located directly at the Überlingen Promenade so you can enjoy the beautiful lake view and maybe grab some dinner while you are here. You can easily take the bus or train to the Überlingen city center and walk here and using your Echt Bodensee Card, the bus and train are free!
