Neighbourhoods

Petersfield – There’s a lot of pubs and restaurants in Petersfield for a small town. If you’re looking for good pub food we recommend The Old Drum. Our favourite in the town is The Paradise, a brilliant Indian restaurant which also does takeaway if you fancy bringing a curry back to the field (sadly they don’t deliver but the Madhuban does). If you’re just in town for drinks we recommend Annie Jones, the Town House and the Folly as the best three. Although, the Charles St Tap, the George and the Good Intent are also pretty good. If you fancy a great breakfast or lunch or just a nice coffee you must go to either Josie’s or Madeleine’s. Madeleine’s also has a small deli and sells some lovely local produce.

Sightseeing

Step out of the tent and look right in front of you, that’s Butser Hill. It’s 889ft (271m) tall and is highest point along the South Downs. We really recommend going up there for the stunning view. To the South you can see Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, Hayling Island and ships coming in and out of the Solent. To the North you can see Petersfield and Ashford Hangers. Looking East and West you can see the long chalk ridge of the South Downs stretching towards Eastbourne and Winchester. If you don’t fancy the walk, it’s certainly worth driving.
