Mason Mill Park is right next to DeKalb County Toco Hills Library, which is a great place to hang out and read or use the computers. It has several picnic areas and a walking trail that crosses above an active railroad. There is also a large playground with toilets.

Decatur, GA, is a quaint village containing many unique shops and eateries, with a lively arts and music scene. The heart of Decatur is a straight bus ride from my house (no changes.)

When I first came to Atlanta 3 decades ago, I landed in Virginia Highland, and fell in love with it. It is a great place for singles, with a vibrant nightlife, and is very walkable. Parking is difficult, so I recommend you take the MARTA bus there.

Little Five Points has a Berkeley, California kind of vibe. There's a great sports bar right in the middle that shows international soccer games and serves good beer. It is very walkable, and reachable by MARTA bus and train (Inman Park station).

Midtown Atlanta was the original "hippy" area in the 60's and 70's; although it retains some of that casual atmosphere, it has been built up considerably, with many new offices and hotels opening. Piedmont Park is the main attraction there. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are in Piedmont Park and the High Museum and Arts Center is walkable from the Arts Center MARTA Station.

Buckhead is the financial center of Atlanta, and is very congested. It is surrounded by historic houses and the Atlanta History Center is located there. I recommend taking MARTA to Lenox or Buckhead station, because parking is very limited and expensive.

Get a BREEZE card at any MARTA station, and use it.
The MARTA train runs from the airport to Chamblee station (Northbound or "Gold" Line), where you can catch the No. 19 Clairmont Road bus to my house. Megabus and RedCoach will drop you off at the Civic Center MARTA Station; Greyhound will drop you at Garnet Street MARTA Station. From any of these stations, catch the Northbound train and get off at Chamblee. Uber and Lyft serve my house 24 hours a day.

This is an intown, multi-cultural neighborhood.
For one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Atlanta, I charge very little. Please bear this in mind when booking my place; all my guests so far (except one) have been very tolerant and easy-going; the only guest who had a problem brought her cat with her, and was incompatible with the heavily wooded environment. I traveled a lot in my youth, and am pleased to offer very affordable accommodation for those on a budget. This is not the Ritz; so please don't book if you expect a luxury hotel environment.
