Neighbourhoods
Edwinstowe is an historic village in the heart of Sherwood Forest, the home of Robin Hood. Legend has it that it was here, at the beautiful medieval church of St Mary, that Robin married Maid Marian. The High Street is home to a statue in their honour.
Edwinstowe takes its name from the holy shrine or resting place – ‘’stowe’’ of King Edwin, the Saxon king of Northumbria who was slain in 633AD. He was buried in Sherwood Forest so that his enemies could not lay hands on his body and a small wooden chapel was later erected. The Church of St Mary’s was rebuilt in stone in 1175.
This is a vibrant and busy village with a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs.
On the outskirts of the village, just past the church, is the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre. Here a you can find a number of craft shops including handmade chocolates, vintage fabrics, jewellery and a cafe.
Just a 10 minute walk from the village is the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and National Nature Reserve, the legendary home of Robin Hood. Many of the oaks in Sherwood Forest have stood for over 5 centuries and the mighty Major Oak (Robin Hood’s tree) is estimated to be over 800 years old. The forest is a Special Area of Conservation and is teeming with life with over 200 different species of spider and 1500 species of beetle along with birds and beasts. There are extensive paths and trails meandering through the woodlands for you to explore.
The Sherwood Forest area plays host to a number of attractions including Rufford Abbey Country Park, Thoresby Park, Sherwood Pines and children’s favourites White Post Farm, Wheelgate and the Sherwood Forest Railway. These are all within easy reach of Edwinstowe.

Close by is White Post Farm Centre, giving you the opportunity to get up close to some beautiful animals, including goats, deer, pigs, meerkats and even wallabies.
Take the short walk down Leeming Street in Mansfield into the town centre where you will be greeted with an excellent shopping experience. The market in Mansfield is still a very vibrant place for traders and remains at the heart of the town centre.
Just outside of Mansfield, in Mansfield Woodhouse, you'll find i-Jump Trampoline Park, which is the perfect place for all the family to get fit and have fun. With over 55 interconnected trampolines, this is the perfect place for you to put your aerobatic skills to the test!

Newark’s market place is overlooked by the Georgian Town Hall. The town has become famous for its six annual antiques fairs, held at Newark County Showground, and thousands of antique hunters from across the world descend on the fair’s 4,000 stalls in search of a bargain.
Other attractions near the town include the Newark Air Museum – home to 65 aircraft and cockpit sections. Nearby, in North Clifton, is also home to a relaxing meditation center and Japanese garden.

Many of Southwell's historic buildings and landmarks suffered during this period, with the Archbishop's Palace and Southwell Minster bearing scars from the conflict as Oliver Cromwell's troops destroyed monuments and graves for lead and other valuable materials. At the end of the war, only the Great Hall still stood in the Archbishop's Palace.
The town is internationally renowned for its Bramley Apple heritage. It is here that the apple was first propagated more than 200 years ago from the garden of a cottage on Church Street. Every year people gather in the picturesque market town to celebrate the UK’s favourite cooking apple, at the Bramley Apple Festival.

A 5/8th scale, 15” gauge railway running through cuttings, over level crossings and across traditional farm land, our railway is run to the Narrow Gauge Railway principles where the little locos were used to build the foundations of roads, larger railways and water navigation's of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

Something of a cross between an inn and a museum, the pub features several bars, cosy nooks and snug lounges filled with curiosities and relics of Nottingham's history. You can enjoy a delicious pub meal everyday between 11am and 10pm in the Rock Bar, where you can warm up next to the fire in Yorkie's Lounge, or enjoy the expansive garden area when the weather is pleasant.
Beneath the pub, cave cellars root deep into the sandstone cliff and, like many of Nottingham's 800+ caves, have for centuries been used for storage of ale. Also located in the cellars is an old cockfighting pit and part of the Castle Gaol was said to be housed in the cellars at one time. This included the condemned cell, a small cell with a very low ceiling with small holes drilled to allow a little air to flow through. The Gaoler would have sat just outside the cells on the ‘Gaoler’s Chair’ which was etched out of the rock and can still be seen today.

Newark Air Museum is a VAQAS registered venue and an Accredited Museum, which is located on the former World War II airfield of Winthorpe in eastern Nottinghamshire. Its diverse collection of more than 90 aircraft and cockpit sections covers the history of aviation, the aircraft on display include 13 (thirteen) National Benchmark aircraft; 34 (thirty-four) Significant aircraft and 21 (twenty-one) Noteworthy aircraft as listed in the National Aviation Heritage Register.
The museum is a registered charity (No.256434) that first opened to the public more than forty years ago in April 1973. Over the years its collection has grown to become one of the largest volunteer managed aviation museums in Great Britain. Open 361 days of the year the museum now has extensive under cover displays, including two aircraft display halls that house more than 48 aircraft and helicopters. This means that visitors can find something to see or do whatever the weather.

Flanked by two unusual watch towers which create a dramatic entrance for guests, this beautiful red brick wedding barn is set on the Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire. The barn was transformed by Cripps & Co, a family-run business with more than 25 years experience restoring barns and creating weddings.
With its traditional oak timber and elegant arches, the main barn is the ideal location for a wedding ceremony. A large fireplace, fairy lights and giant candelabra bathe the space in light and create a romantic atmosphere. The room is transformed and decorated for dancing after dinner, with a special late license until 1 am. The barn can accommodate 150 guests for a ceremony and 250 in total, including evening guests.
