When you come to North West Bali, one of the things we highly recommend you do is explore the volcanoes on the beautiful island of Java that is just across the sea from us. From the shoreline, you can see the setting sun cast a glow on the volcanoes of Java and travellers often choose to cross the gulf and explore them. One of the most popular excursions is the hike to Kawah Ijen, the crater with the countenance of the moon! The sights that lie in store for you at Kawah Ijen are extraordinary! With blue flames spouting from the crater and scores of miners making their way up with baskets of sulphur on their backs, there is almost a post apocalyptic scenario that unravels before your eyes.
