Interesting Geology with the Paluxy River flowing through on it's way to the Brazos River. The river is dammed just above the park, and TPWD releases trout here in January!

The museum has a great exhibit on our local dinosaurs and a peak at Glen Rose's Moonshine history. Right next to it though is our local chapter of the Texas Native Plant Society's demonstration garden! See what you can plant to help butterflies and other native wildlife at home!

When we aren't having a pandemic, Oakdale has great concerts and in the past has had a summer movie series. There is a snow-cone shack and mini-golf across the street, and they are next to Big Rocks Park.

The courthouse is the centerpiece of Glen Rose's Historical Square, home of great shops and restaurants. There are two dinosaur footprints on the square, petrified architecture, fossils and crystals (but I am going to let you find them!). Our local Prairie Rose Chapter of the Native Plant Society has a great demonstration garden next to the Historical Museum ( a lot of fun, and a must see for the dinosaur fans in the family!).
Go a couple blocks off the square to Glen Rose Auto Parts and get your Glen Rose Instagram picture at their mural. Look inside to see if they still have checkers going!

While I can’t recommend this place for atmosphere (you can usually hear each other talk though!), their food is great and loaded with fresh veggies. Friends rave about their Hot and Sour Soup, I have to confess to a bit of an addiction to their Shrimp and Snow Peas ( with extra veggies!) and their fried rice, which is 3-meal’s worth of food! I ask for extra veggies too, so I feel like I am heating the calorie count ( my curves tell me otherwise, Lol!).
Parking is tight, hours can be iffy, popular take-out food too.
