From Wikipedia: Shaw House, also known as the Old Shaw Homestead, is a historic home located near Southern Pines, Moore County, North Carolina. It is dated to the early-19th century, and is a 1 1/2-story, three bay, frame dwelling with Federal / Greek Revival style design elements. The house has massive, single-shoulder, dressed sandstone and brick end chimneys, a gable roof, and full-width engaged front porch. It has a rear ell added in the late-19th or early-20th century. Shaw House is thought to be one of the oldest surviving houses in Moore County.

This 165-acre park is home to a 95-acre lake. Nature trails, hiking trails, fishing, and boating are some of the activities that can be enjoyed. Other amenities include a natural Disc Golf Course, parking, a boat ramp, restrooms, water for visitors and their dogs and a bike repair station. Two covered picnic shelters with grills and picnic tables are available. As well as several grill sites, picnic tables and seating area around the lake. More than 12 miles of Greenway Trails are available; most can be accessed from Reservoir Park. The Park is open every day of the year from Dawn to Dusk.

The story of Weymouth began in the early 1900s when James Boyd, Sr. of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, purchased over 1200 acres at the request of his daughter Helen Boyd Dull to save the longleaf pine forest from the destruction of the turpentine industry.
The Georgian mansion that we know today was built in 1922 by his grandson, author James Boyd and his wife Katharine. Here they hosted literary greats, founded the Moore County Hounds, and influenced the design of a community.
Today the story continues with a writers in residency program, literary programming, musical concerts and a dedication to conserving the gardens and longleaf pine forests.
