Branscombe Village's streets sweep down through the stunning valley to the sea, lined with colourful cottages and thatched buildings. There are pretty rows of thatched cottages with hanging baskets and climbing roses decorating the outside, a picturesque dovecote and a church with one of the most inspiring views in the county. The village has a number of historic buildings, the Old Bakery and Forge, both National Trust properties, are just some which can be found in the beautiful streets. Inside the Old Bakery you will find yourself surrounded by baking tins and storages jars as well as open fires, while the compact forge is thought to be the oldest working thatched forge of its kind in England. From the village, the beach is a short walk following the path along the river. The beach is a pebble beach with pretty painted beach huts nestled in the hills. There is a cafe on the beach.

Walk in the actual footsteps of the monks, and explore the exquisite interior featured in the latest Hollywood adaptation of ‘Far From the Madding Crowd.’ Nominated for Historic Houses ‘Garden of the Year’ award 2019, the garden continues to evolve with sustainability very much at the heart of its aesthetic.
