Neighbourhoods

CityPlace is a large stretch of former railway land between Bathurst and Rees St south of Front Street. The area is known for its numerous Toronto condos along the lakeshore, which comprise one of the city’s largest planned communities. This neighbourhood has grown a lot over the past few years, with new condos going up all the time. Designed to maximize green space, CityPlace features plenty of parkland for recreational use, as well as indoor recreation facilities. Situated between the Gardiner Expressway and Front St, there is an amazing amount of green space in CityPlace. There are lots of parks such as Canoe Landing, at 20 acres with 2 multi-purpose sports fields, loads of walking trails and even some amazing large scale art instillations designed by Douglas Coupland, it has something for everyone. The new condo developments in CityPlace have brought with them restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses, like dental offices, that previously weren’t available to those that lived south of Front St. The Rogers Centre and CN Tower are close at hand as are the walking trails, boardwalk and beaches along The Waterfront. The King West Entertainment District is just to the north, with fantastic restaurants, live theatre and some great shopping too. Living in a CityPlace condo gives you tremendous opportunity to get anywhere in the city you’d like. The Spadina on ramp to the Gardiner Expressway is right in the middle of this downtown neighbourhood, making an escape to the East End or West End of the city a breeze. Alternately the 510 Spadina and the 511 Bathurst streetcars also go right through CityPlace, heading north the Bloor-Danforth Subway or over to Union Station and The Ex.

Food scene

Toronto has three major shopping malls located in Downtown, Etobicoke and North York. Eaton Centre is located at the heart of downtown on Yonge and Dundas street. Yonge and Dundas is the busiest intersection in Toronto and has a variety of dinning and shopping options nearby. Just west of downtown is Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke. Near Sherway Gardens, you can find big box retailers like Walmart, Costco and Best Buy. Located north of Toronto between the 401 and Allen road, Yorkdale mall offers high end luxury brands. Other popular areas for shopping include Queen’s Street West and Bloor Street area. Many of Toronto’s popular restaurants are located along Queen’s Street West in the entertainment district. Kensington Market is a favorite area in Toronto. If you’re someone who wants to get away from high-rises and department stores, Kensington Market offers a nice respite from the usual big commercial trappings. Adjacent to Chinatown, Kensington Market has a plethora of retro shops, cheap and used clothing stores, cool cafes, furniture shops, great restaurants, and a variety of ethnic and organic produce stores.

Transportation

Airports Toronto is serviced by two international airports: Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport(YTZ). From Billy Bishop Airport, there is a 10 minutes walking distance to the buildings From Pearson International Airport (YYZ), there are airport shuttles to the Union station subway. Taxi/Uber/Lyft The biggest taxi company that operates in Toronto is Beck Taxi. Their orange and green cabs can be seen roaming the streets of downtown Toronto. Like most major cities, Uber is a popular alternative to Taxis. Uber launched in Toronto in 2014 with the UberX

Public Transportation

Public Transportation The main transit system is serviced by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and Metrolink. The TTC system operates buses, streetcars, and subway in the city. From Union station, the streetcars 510 and 509 have bus stops near the our location. The cost per trip on the TTC system is $3.25 for adults.

Highways

Highways The 400-series highways are the major highways that connect Toronto to the rest of Ontario. The Ontario 401 Highway, the busiest highway in North America, stretches 828KM from Windsor in the west to the Quebec border in the east. Some other notable highways in Toronto include highway 427, 409, 403 and 404. There is currently one tolled highway in Toronto, the 407 ETR and rates vary depending on hours and zone the vehicle is traveling.
