A fabulous day out to an outstanding country Manor House with exquisite gardens and grounds.
The Manor itself is just breathtaking ...but also perfect if you just want to pack a picnic and explore the vast,
beautifully manicured gardens and grounds.
It also has a great farm shop nearby to grab some goodies for your stay.

A fabulous day out to an outstanding country Manor House with exquisite gardens and grounds.
The Manor itself is just breathtaking ...but also perfect if you just want to pack a picnic and explore the vast,
beautifully manicured gardens and grounds.
It also has a great farm shop nearby to grab some goodies for your stay.
An unusual and interesting site only accessible by cable car, into an open air museum depicting the history of lead mining there. You can wander around the site of local interest and if you fancy, there’s a really informative guided walking tour into one of the mines (be advised there are a lot of steps!). It’s worth the effort!
Fascinating for children too and there’s a good cafe and play park.
A great day at out, the cable car trip itself will take your breath away!! Not advised

Dale RoadAn unusual and interesting site only accessible by cable car, into an open air museum depicting the history of lead mining there. You can wander around the site of local interest and if you fancy, there’s a really informative guided walking tour into one of the mines (be advised there are a lot of steps!). It’s worth the effort!
Fascinating for children too and there’s a good cafe and play park.

The through trip is a guided boat trip through Britain’s longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel, which is over three miles long. An experienced boat team can give you plenty of interesting facts and answer any questions you have during the trip. If you’re a narrowboat enthusiast, this is a trip you don’t want to miss.

A lovely, easy walk to the protected ancient site of the remains of a Roman Fort.
Castleshaw Roman fort
An easy 3.5 mile walk around Dovestones Reservoir is a perfect choice for those seeking beautiful views of the Valley and an abundance of wildlife.
Take some coins for the carpark and an ice cream!
Dove Stone has become ridiculously popular over the past few years. subsequently has been problematic for parking and overcrowding. AVOID at weekends!
PLEASE NOTE THIS RESERVOIR IS UNDERGOING WORK 2023 and the bridge is under repair, you cannot walk the circular route.
I’d recommend walking half way around Dovestones (turn left out of the carpark on the route) and then all around Yeomanhey (right next to it) at the moment.

There are several walks, varying in length and difficulty, from a few easy miles to mammoth treks across this beautiful landscape.
There are also guided tours by experienced National Trust volunteers, check the website for more details.

A lively, vibrant village with plenty of shops, boutiques, bars, coffee shops and restaurants.
There’s also a museum and tourist information centre.
Parking is not great, but if you decide to ditch the car it’s an easy, pleasant walk along the canal towpath from Diggle or the garden centre near to the Brownhill centre .
