Devil’s Bridge is an absolute MUST on a hot summers day and you would not be alone swimming in the river. Plus the actually town is very cute and quaint albeit slightly weird.

This village is far out but SO lovely if you pick a good day. It is incredibly quaint and the most exciting thing they have is a rope museum (surprisingly interesting) which tells you about the pace of life. A wonderful place to potter about, the crystal shop being a favourite of mine which you can pass a lot of time in. It’s also tucked away amongst hills so the drive is lovely and scenic.

Morecambe is a cheap and cheerful day out! Here are a number of things to visit and do which may sound unimpressive but are great for families. • Walk on the rocks along the Prom (there are signs telling you not to but unless the rocks are slippery or you are very young/old it is super fun and passes the time and improves a walk along the prom) • Go crabbing in the Crab Pond. This might take you a while to find (it is literally just on the beach towards Happy Mount Park but not easy to spot from the road). Buy a crabbing set - or just take a string and some meat - and you can pass hours catching and releasing crabs. • Go on the Slots at The Arcade. I think it’s called Pleasureland but I’m sure you will find it. It’s a reliable bit of fun. • Happy Mount Park! This is definitely a lot better in the sun, but there are lots of grassy green spaces for picnics, a splash park for the kids (don’t forget towels!), a pretty snazzy play park, and a mini train! There is a lot more to do as long as you use your imagination!

Food scene

Some of the lesser known places around the local area - tried and tested!
A hidden but MUST visit Chinese restaurant opposite the bus stop. An absolute gem popular amongst international students and those in the know... fab for a cheap and cheerful meal out (just be sure to check opening times!). Try one of the noodle soups!

A very cute country cafe - perfect at the start or end of a good old family walk up Nicky Nook just at the side. Or just enjoy the lake at Wyresdale park - you can sometimes rent a rowing boat.

If it’s a quick fix you’d like - try Go Burrito instead of a fast food chain. It’s quick, tasty, cheap, and Mexican!

A lovely place close to home. You can walk to it (it’s just over 2 miles) or just drive 5 minutes up the road. It is a wonderfully countryside pub fitted with tartan and furs with odes to deer and hunting dogs. Very cosy and good food as well!

If there is one place on this list which is a must visit - it’s Walling’s. Famous amongst locals, the ice creams are ridiculously big for the price and there are a vast selection of flavours (all delicious! personal recommendations available at request!). Most cafes within an hour radius will stock Wallings ice cream but this is where you will get the vest value for money and a wider choice. You HAVE to go before you leave. No regrets.

There aren’t a vast amount of wonderful places to eat in Morecambe but this is a local favourite! I would also advise taking a picnic if planning a trip to Morecambe bay
