Batavia is a delightful city with a small town feel - easy and quick access to everything Chicagoland! The Robins Nest is snuggled in one of Batavia's original farmhouse settlement- in a home built in 1890. Our sweet downtown is welcoming and progressive featuring mostly locally owned shops and restaurants- you feel like a neighbor when you are here! The local watering hole where everyone knows your name is less than 3 minutes from your front door! May through October on Saturdays our Farmers Artisan Market (within walking distance) has nature's bounty, local artists, food and entertainment every Saturday. The indoor Farmers Market is 2 blocks away and runs November to May. The Batavia Boardwalk is an incubator for new and upcoming businesses launching new ventures-open May through December weekends only. You can bike down or walk, (a less than 10-minute slow stroll) to the Fox River featuring the Batavia River Walk extends along the Depot Pond and Fox River where grand views of the river make amazing photography opportunities of Illinois nature and foliage. You can enjoy locally crafted coffee, brunch or shopping all along the Fox River. The Hall Quarry Beach (a quick three blocks away) is open seasonally and features family friendly swimming on a man-made beach with hot dogs and hamburgers and all the beach goodies with a very affordable all-day pass! Bike and kayak rentals are available downtown for your river adventure. The Metra Train in Geneva (Union Pacific WEST) is 4 minutes by car to your adventure to Chicago- a relaxing 90-minute scenic trip winding through all the Burbs to downtown Chicago to the Ogilvie Transportation Center- weekend passes are super cheap - $10.00 for both days (and certain holidays) you can get a hopper pass to get off and on at your leisure to numerous Burbs for shopping and sight-seeing for one low fee! Batavia is home to the world-famous Fermi-Lab- a cutting edge particle physics lab - a place where science and art co-exist - open year round for tours. The largest entertainment center of its kind, Funway features bowling, skating rink, laser tag, arcade, batting cages, go-karts, bumper boats, and mini golf! (Some activities are seasonal) If its comedy you love- a brand new stand up comedy club "The Comedy Vault" in a historic location downtown features hilarious side-splitting acts you won't want to miss!
