In this category we recommend some of our favorite food destinations in Weaverville, Asheville and surrounding areas.
Everything about BMP is fantastic! We love the pizza, their craft brews, live music (almost every night!) and the friendliness of everyone there. Its like dropping in to a friend's place for dinner. They're closed on Monday's for a well-deserved break. And, it can get pretty busy around 7pm most other days. We like to get there a little earlier and hang out with a beer on the deck if we have to wait for a table. The wait is always worth it. During the warmer months they have dog-friendly outdoor seating on the deck.

We love the relaxed atmosphere of the White Duck, particularly their Riverside Drive location. Their tacos are unique and delicious! You won't find grocery-store "Old El Paso" style tacos here. At the White Duck they're all about combining flavors to create exciting combinations. Among our favorites are the Bangkok Shrimp tacos, Beef Bulgogi tacos, and the Bahn Mi tacos. They have multiple varieties of gluten-free options and some vegetarian options as well.
And... their outside seating along the French Broad River is dog-friendly :)

Parks & Nature
Pisgha National Forest has outdoor options for every age and ability - hiking trails (from easy to difficult), waterfalls (many are even visible from the road), camping, horseback riding and fishing. We love taking Maggie for hikes on the trails any time of year. Frozen waterfalls in the winter are spectacular and because we're at some elevation here the temperatures even in the summer are comfortable to be out & about on the trails.

Pisgha National Forest has outdoor options for every age and ability - hiking trails (from easy to difficult), waterfalls (many are even visible from the road), camping, horseback riding and fishing. We love taking Maggie for hikes on the trails any time of year. Frozen waterfalls in the winter are spectacular and because we're at some elevation here the temperatures even in the summer are comfortable to be out & about on the trails.
Douglas Falls is gorgeous year-round. It takes about 1 hour to drive to the trailhead from Farmside Village and its easy to find as the road dead-ends at the parking area. The hike to the falls is an easy-moderate 15 minutes. We love this destination year-round!
If you're looking for a strenuous hike you can start here at Douglas Falls then follow a trail all the way up to Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Fiber, glass, ceramics, paint, paper, metal... you name the medium, they're ALL represented here and the art is absolutely stunning. This is a great area to spend a day crawling the studios. Start early with brunch at one of the many cafes in the district, wind your way from studio to studio, grab a light lunch at The White Duck, or picnic along the French Broad River then wrap up your afternoon at one of the many craft breweries in the district such as The Wedge. Wear comfortable walking shoes!

Good Fibrations is an angora goat farm owned and run by Marcia Kummerle. When you plan a visit you can interact with the sweet goats (particularly fun in the spring during kidding season!) and while you're there you can pick up skeins of her hand-dyed yarns or locks for your next knitting, crocheting, needle-felting or other crafty project! Don't miss having a look at Marcia's stunning hand-woven shawls too - they're beautiful to look at, snuggly to wear and make great gifts.
