Chips with spicy salsa are available for every table. One of the spicier Mexican restaurants, so if you enjoy hot Mexican food, this is the place for you! They also offer mild options for those without the taste for heat.
Mi Casita also makes amazing American desserts!

True Mexican Food! Every thing on the menu is amazing! The wait-staff doesn't speak English very well, but they usually have no problem getting the order right. They also have a large selection of delicious breakfast burritos.

Their taco and burrito bar next to the deli is the best place in town to get a taco basket in my opinion. The meat is juicy but not greasy, the tortillas are made fresh in the store, and the salsa is very good. You just can't beat these.

Great little diner south of town. It's an older restaurant, but the food is consistently good. A very good value for the family!

All of the food is delicious and the service is usually pretty darn good! Their Green Chile Cheese Grits and their Pecos Valley Poutine Fries are both amazing!

This little restaurant has the best burgers and fries in town. The service is a little iffy sometimes, because there seems to be a large turnover in employees, but the food is consistently good. I don't eat their ice cream, so I can't comment on that.

Excellent sandwiches and soups! Their stuffed mushrooms are the best I've ever eaten! They also have comfort type food plates such as chicken fried steak, and meat loaf, but I stick to soup, sandwich, and stuffed mushrooms.

Favorite Activities
When I was raising my kids, we spent our weekends enjoying these activities! You may hear that there isn't much to do in Carlsbad, but that just isn't true. You just have to get up, get out, and spend time as a family!
The high-school campus has a very nice indoor Olympic size swimming pool with lanes for laps. There are also other areas for families and kids to play. When the weather was too bad to be outdoors, this was our place to go.

This is a must! Even if it's just for a leisurely drive. There is a water park, picnic areas with BBQ grills, tennis and racket-ball courts, playgrounds, and a river-walk with lots of trees.
Lake Carlsbad

I 've never golfed competitively, but we've had lots of fun on this beautiful golf course.

In addition to the large animals, this is an excellent place to learn about desert insects and critters in general. It's very educational. Remember to take water, light snacks, and sunscreen.

This was our absolute favorite weekend spot from Spring to Fall! Beautiful falls, covered picnic areas, nice restroom facilities, and stunning hikes above the falls. The landscape has changed somewhat over the past few years, due to a fire; however, it's still a great place to spend the day.

The landscape has changed somewhat over the past few years, due to a fire; however, it's still a great place to spend the day.
The cave is a great place to go any time of year. The temperature in the cave is constant and independent of the outside environment. Whether it's hot or cold outside, the cave is always comfortable for walking.

The water park has only been open in Carlsbad for a couple of years. I've never been, my my grandson has been and he loved it!
