This area of the Dordogne is spectacularly wonderful and deserves at least a day there. With boating, sight seeing, eateries and bars it really is a lovely place to hang out. Try to get there early in the height of summer as parking can be a bit tricky.

Villereal has one of the only supermarkets in the Dordogne open on Sundays so if you've not quite planned your provisions efficiently then head out to here. Half an hours' drive down the old roman road, the D207. It also has regular Vide Grenuer (car boor sales) and brocantes.

This restored Chateau is a wonderful example of French design and has been exquisitely renovated. Featuring over a hundred games for children and adults alike it's a great place to spend the whole day have fun exploring. Be warned, lunch and wine prices here are horrendous so bring you own!
