Parks & Nature
There are numerous nearby hiking trails, which are great even in the middle of winter (you just need to bring snow clothes and snow shoes/poles for the deep snow on the trails).
Some of my favorites to do (especially with dogs) :
Butler Lodge Trail (trailhead at the top of Stevensville Rd in Underhill, VT - about a 15 minute drive from the house) moderate hike
Mount Mansfield Sunset Ridge Trail (trailhead at the very top of Mountain Road in Underhill, VT, also about a 15 minute drive from the houes): moderate-advanved hike
Hike through the notch: take Rt 108 past smuggler's notch ski resort to where the road is closed, can walk on the Notch Rd (~3 miles to Stowe ski resort)

Funded through a variety of sources, the award winning Recreation Path provides a source of enjoyment for residents and visitors alike and is used for walking, biking, inline skating, jogging and cross country skiing. Adjacent to the Recreation Path and fields, the Quiet Path was later created for low-impact walking and is a favorite for dog walking. Great Views of the surrounding Green Mountains and multiple bars/restaurants along the way just steps from the Bike Path.
