La Mascotte is a Montmartre institution specializing in seafood since 1889. The front area of the restaurant is reserved for casual lunches, an after work apéritif or for standing at the bar and sipping espresso all while soaking up the local buzz. The back brasserie provides full-service dining where a wide variety of fresh oysters are available (or for take-away from the oyster bar to the left of the restaurant). As well as being great value (main dishes from 9.50€, the two locations of Le Relais Gascon are well known for their copious salades géantes “big salads” topped with their delicious and crispy garlic fried potatoes and a wide selection of other French mainstays. Get a carafe of their house red, white or rosé and watch the world go by.

This restaurant, part of the bistro revolution that's spreading all over Paris, has been popular since it opened its doors a few years ago. The ever-changing menu features the freshest and highest quality ingredients available. The atmosphere is chic, yet laid back and Parisian in feel. The staff is extremely helpful and is always at your service for the selection of one of their wonderful bottles of wine that are also available for purchase at their wine shop, Cave du Miroir, just across the street. We recommend their tasting menu (5 small plates in succession at 40€/person). A la carte options are a bit less expensive and equally good. Reservations recommended.

Getting Around
The easiest way to travel around Paris is by metro. It's very quick and easy. All of our Paris vacation apartments are located in Paris proper. Our city looks deceivingly large on a map but most of Paris's sights can be visited by foot. Paris is 105.4 kilometres (40.7 square miles) with a population of around 2.2 million people within its 20 arrondissements. If you were to take a metro from one end of the city to the other, it would not take you more than 30-40 minutes. As a result, everything can be seen by a quick metro/bus ride. The vast network of the metro system allows you to cross the entire city in about 30 minutes. All of the Paris holiday lets are located within a 20-30 minute metro ride from the Eiffel Tower.
