Beaver Meadows is just 5 minutes away. the bar and restaurant are pretty standard american fare, not bad, but nothing to write home about. They also offer horseback riding and other outdoor fun, great place to check out. You can even hike there from the cabin, catch a drink or a sandwich and hike home.

If you want to fish, or picnic by a lake, Dowdy is fairly large and popular.
You pass Parvin Lake as you drive to Crystal Lakes. One of the most beautiful lakes in the area. No boats, only float tubes allowed. Great fishing.

Creedmoore Lakes are a series of three lakes, and you can hike to each of them from the Lake parking lot. The main lake is in a beautiful setting and it a fun place to play and have a picnic. Fishing is allowed.

Deadman Road

Out the back door of the cabin and down a short ravine, you can access a series of marked trails maintained by Beaver Meadows. The trails are in the Roosevelt National Forest and are accessible to all who want to use them. Watch for horseback riders when you are hiking with dogs. There are a number of trails and a map is provided at the cabin, along with directions on how to reach them from the front door of the cabin.

Red Feather Lakes is the closest town. You will find a small grocery store with video rental, an Ace Hardware, and an ice cream shop. The lakes around Red Feather Lakes are all private, and they don't let non-members spend time on them, even when not fishing. There are also restaurants in the area, two of which we mention specifically. There is also a golf course - but we are not golfers and can't tell you much about it. You will also find souvenir shopping in Red Feather Lakes.
