A beautiful place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch, out on the terrace surrounded by ancient trees and lush greenery of the Company's Garden. Some tables have great views of Table Mountain, and there are some cool kinetic outdoor sculptures by the entrance. Pamela swears that the brunch she has here the other week was one of the best she's ever had in our 6 years in Cape Town - and she's had a lot of brunches in a lot of places during that time! This place is classily understated and low-key, attracting only those Cape Towners 'in-the-know' with its super tasty dishes made from seasonal and local ingredients. It recently opened for dinner too.

6 days a week (not on Sundays or Public Holidays) a huge cannon is fired from the small Naval base on the top of Signal Hill. This has been done for over a hundred years, and was originally a means for ships anchored in Table Bay to synchronise their clocks to enable accurate navigation. You can hear the sound of the blast all over the city. Making the 10 minute drive from the apartment to watch the gun being fired is thoroughly recommended. The views from up there are amazing - and the sound is even more impressive. Don't be late though! ;-))

Right in front of the apartment building, Church Square is one of the oldest public spaces in the city. Originally the site of a slave market, the polished granite blocks set amongst the cobbles are engraved with the names of some of the thousands of people forcibly transported to city, and then tragically sold into slavery.
