Swimming, Kayaking and Canoeing in the Area
Wonderful place to take the kids swimming, little beach, very kid and family friendly, crystal clear water, only 2 min drive from the house.

Wonderful swimming right down the road, only 2 min drive from the house. Alamoosook Lake is very close to Craig's Pond. It is great during the week as most locals go swimming there on weekends. The lake has little private area's with picnic benches and rocks to bathe on . Really a great family place. Also great hiking trails right near the lake.

So many walking trails in Acadia... Also, beautiful scenic biking trails and of course "Sand Beach" if you want to discover one of the only sand beaches in the area. Sand Beach does get very busy during weekends in the summer.

Only a 10-min drive from the house. Great swimming and wonderful place to go kayaking! Take Happy Town Road, drive a few miles, then follow signs on your right for "Public Boat Launch Branch Lake". The beach is around the corner from the boat launch. Nice little beach and great swimming spot for little ones!

Heart Pond is the pond you are looking at through the trees when you are at the cottage. It is only accessible for swimming through the public boat launch on the other side of the pond. To get there, when you come from the cottage, make a right onto route 1, and another right after about half a mile when you see Duffy's Restaurant. The road will lead you behind Duffy's and turns into a dirt road that leads to the boat launch. Very nice and private swimming spot!
