It is the home of the Washington County Fair, which is an popular agriculture fair held every August. There are numerous farms and farm stands in the area as well as farmer’s markets. There are many small historic homes and mill villages in the area offering a small glimpse into the past of the industrial revolution. For avid golfers, there are many note worthy public golf courses in the area. Richmond and its surrounding towns also have many hiking trails and rivers. Nature lovers would enjoy Arcadia Management Area and other spots that Richmond has to offer. Guests that enjoy the outdoors can also enjoy some of the best trout fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. There are a lot of local eateries serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner that are reasonably priced. There are also food trucks dotted along route 138 throughout the year. Gaining popularity are some local food truck events. Richmond is a bit off the beaten path but is close to many beaches as well as the CT line and casinos.
