The Coolidge Homestead, also known as Calvin Coolidge Homestead District or President Calvin Coolidge State Historical Site, was the childhood home of the 30th President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge and the place where he took the presidential oath of office Although he spent most of his adult life in Northampton, Massachusetts, Coolidge often returned to the old homestead to visit his family. He never lost his fondness for Vermont and its people. Famous for his honesty, thrift, and taciturnity, “Silent Cal” restored confidence in government after the Harding scandals and symbolized stability during a period of rapid, disorienting social change. The Calvin Coolidge Homestead District at Plymouth Notch preserves many of the historic buildings that Coolidge knew in his youth: his birthplace, his boyhood home, the church that he attended, the homes of relatives and family friends, and the hall above his father’s old store, which he used as his office during the summer of 1924 and others. Coolidge and his wife lie amid seven generations of Coolidges in the town cemetery.

Come watch Crowley Cheese being made by hand just as it was when Winfield Crowley began. Our landmark factory was built next to a small mountain brook in 1882 in the then-traditional post & beam fashion. Little has changed since then. Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Saturday and Sunday 10am - 4pm. You can call during these hours to be sure we're open. Directions Healdville is a tiny rural community of a few dozen people, on Healdville Road, two miles South from Route 103, northwest of Ludlow. The factory is easily accessible. Remember to use Mt. Holly, not Healdville, in your GPS. Award-winning Crowley Cheese has been made in the Green Mountains of Vermont from the same recipe, in the same manner, since 1824. Hand-made the old-fashioned way, it's cheese the way it used to be -- all natural, with no additives or preservatives. Pure, simple, delicious: cheese that everyone will love. All-natural Crowley Cheese is made by hand from fresh, whole, unpasteurized milk without additives or preservatives. Our milk comes from cows certified BST and BGH free. With a distinctively smooth, creamy texture, Crowley Cheese is often compared to a cheddar "without the bite." There's only one way to make such a fine cheese: by hand. While other cheesemakers have gone high-tech, Crowley has resolutely stuck to the hand tools and traditional methods first used by company founder Winfield Crowley.
