Jordan Lake is a state recreation area with camping, hiking, swimming and boating located about 15 miles south on US 501 South.
The Lower Haw River State Natural Area is a hiking trail and fishing area near Jordan Lake. The north trailhead is in Bynum off Bynum Church Road and the south trailhead is along US-64 eastbound, just east of the bridge over Haw River. The parking area is next to the bridge (between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro)
