Sightseeing

This is a bit of a hidden gem. Every always goes to Lake Tyrrell and the Silo Art Trail but Green Lake Regional Park is where the locals spend their summer. (not to be confused with "Green Lake" which is near horsham - almost 2hrs away!) A thick band of beautiful old box trees wrap around this fresh water lake - it's an outback oasis.

A great place for 4WDing, camping or a day trip. There is a massive sand dune called "snow drift" which you can sandboard down - if you have such a thing. The edge of the Big Desert - a real outback experience.

Make sure you pack some gum boots or shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. When you walk out on the lake surface when it is wet your shoes will be muddy and salty. Also, if you are coming here to get the reflective surface shots - it pays to call ahead and check that there is water in the lake . Over the dry hot months the water can evaporate leaving a hard crusty salt bed, still worth a look but no good for getting "the shot".

If you are travelling from Melbourne or anywhere down south it would be best to set aside a day worth of travel and do the entire trail on the way here or en route home.
