“A mausoleum, a fortress, a prison and finally a museum… Rome offers an abundance of monuments and sights rich in history, stories and legends, but Castel Sant’Angelo is one which truly encompasses the essence of the city’s transformation throughout the centuries. It was first built between 123 and 139 AD to serve as the mausoleum of the Roman emperor, Hadrian, and his family. Then, it became a military building, which in 403 would be integrated to the Aurelian Walls. In the 14th century, Castel Sant’Angelo took on the role of a military fortress connected to the Vatican through an elevated passageway which still exists today, “Passetto di Borgo”. It was later used as a prison; a place where executions were carried out and where prisoners were left to starve. In 1901, it became a wonderfully rich museum which harbors relics of its tumultuous past. Today, it graces the Roman skyline with its golden lights, and is visited by many during their stay in Rome.”

“Alright, this is not the French Riviera anymore, it's about a 2 hour drive. But if your stay on the Riviera is long enough and you have time to go here, it's absolutely worth it. Basically, this place is a paradise for nature lovers. I go there several times every summer. Here's a non-exhaustive list of things that you can do here: 1) Kayak / Pedal boat in the Gorges du Verdon. This gorge is insanely beautiful but during peak summer, there are just way too many people and it degrades the experience. 2) Lavender fields. If you're thinking of particularly famous lavender field pictures, they were probably taken here, on the Plateau de Valensole, above the Sainte-Croix lake. But the period to see them starts from mid-June until mid-July. After mid-July, you won't see many of them. And none the rest of the year. 3) Moustiers-Sainte-Marie village. It's a very cute village which is on the list of the 150 most beautiful villages in France. 4) La route des crêtes, meaning the "Ridge road". This road is very impressive, and watch out if you're scared of heights! It's a loop that follows the cliffs of the Verdon gorge where there are world-renowned climbing spots. There are several breathtaking viewpoints along it.”

“The Sansevero Chapel Museum in the historic heart of Naples is a jewel of the world’s artistic heritage. Here, baroque creativity, dynastic pride, beauty and mystery blend to create a unique and almost timeless atmosphere. With its masterpieces such as the famous Veiled Christ, renowned world over for the remarkable tissue-like quality of the marble, feats of virtuosity such as Disillusion, and enigmatic creations such as the Anatomical Machines, the Sansevero Chapel is one of the most impressive monuments that the human mind has ever conceived.”
