“An outstanding spot for an afternoon drink overlooking beautiful Onetangi Beach, recently given a full make over it is an excellent little bar/restaurant and ideal for families. There are plenty of options for food and this is a more laid back casual vibe.”

“One of our favourite vineyards for lunch, a more rustic atmosphere but excellent food and wine accompanied by fantastic service, great for those that are more into the atmosphere than a corporate style of building if that makes sense.”

“Away from the tourist trap wineries of the island, you'll find Te Motu and The Shed. Up the lengthly driveway and past big brother winery Stonyridge, you'll be presented with a shed that has quite literally been transformed into a five-star restaurant. Despite a first-class rating, it has a no frills environment that allows the kitchen do most of the talking. The menu, created by proprietor and award-winning chef Bronwen Laight, is made up of a selection of small and large plates which are both great for sharing. You'll come across things you've never heard of before, but the wait staff are well versed and will take good care of you. The mushroom pierogy, Eastern European dumplings, and the accompanying tender pork cheek is a must try. We also couldn't overlook the kefir (fermented milk) cheesecake with local figs and berries, and the crazily sweet dulce de leche ice-cream with caramelised banana sweet macadamia brittle. With an extremely good reputation, prices are at the upper end of the spectrum, particularly in the wine department. 76 Onetangi Rd, Onetangi, Waiheke Island”

“Onetangi is very different to Enclosure and Palm Beach. This is the largest beach on Waiheke with a beautiful long expanse. Onetangi is best visited on a quite and calm day (to avoid the tourists). Check out the local spots, Charlie Farley's for a bevy and some food.”
