Lighthouse
“Beautiful place to visit. Oregon's tallest lighthouse. This area extends one mile out into the pacific ocean on a basalt headland. Gorgeous scenery, Incredible views, visitor center, tide pools, nesting seabirds, peregrine falcons. And "cobble beach" is here and made up of millions of round basalt rocks that produce an applause like sound when the waves roll in. Ranger's on hand most times to answer questions. ”

“The beach here is connected to the campground, generally less crowded than Nye Beach closer to town. While you're across the bridge, swing by Rogue Brewing.”

Beach
“Nyebeach.org Visit above website for information on the historic community of Nye Beach. This website has a great list of shopping, dining, galleries and information on two cubic beach access points (Don Davis park and the Nye Beach Turnaround.) Nye Beach was established by John Nye (see picture in living room) on his 160 acre land claim when Newport was first opened for settlement in 1866. ”

Beach
“This is some kind of ecological desination type place. There's a fee by carload to get in but so worth it. The "beach" consists of perfectly formed round black balls that were lava bubbles from millions of years ago. Don't take any of the lava balls! It's literally a federal offense. There's park rangers watching. This is the most bizarre "beach" you'll ever visit. Can be difficult to walk on though and tons of stairs going down to beach. Also there are unbelievable tidepools with colorful starfish, sea urchins and anemones. Bring rubber boots! More accessible is the lighthouse with a spectacular view of the ocean. You might even see spouting migrating whales! About a 3 hour drive.”
