“The ancient ruins of Butrint famed for their size, beauty and tranquility are located approximately 18 km from Saranda. Butrint has a special atmosphere created by a combination of archaeology, monuments and nature in the Mediterranean. Butrint was officially recognized a UNESCO world heritage site in 1992. This recognition affirms its ancient and archeological appeal that has defied the forces of nature to preserve antiques that dates back to over 50,000 years ago. As a visitor to world recognized heritage site, you do not only get the rare chance of experiencing the ancient cultures, monuments, and civilizations but also enjoy the serene environment.”

“In a 1960s building, the Corfu Archaeological Museum displays archaeological finds from sites across the island, most notably from Kanoni, Corfu's ancient capital. The most important exhibit is the 17-meter-long Gorgon Pediment from the sixth-century-BC Temple of Artemis at Kanoni. Fully intact, it depicts a demonic-looking Medusa wearing a belt of intertwined serpents and flanked by a panther to each side.”

“Τhe Museum is housed in Koukouritsa, the family estate that accommodates, in its grounds, the country home of Capodistrias, set in the middle of Corfu. This is where Ioannis Capodistrias lived for a period of time, during his years of youth in Corfu. The country home is a typical architectural example of a Corfiot country home. The building is set amidst a garden that stretches over an area of 13.000 m2. The beauty and fresh air offered by this lush garden, along with its cobbled pathways and the amazing view towards the sea, the mountains of Epirus and the city of Corfu, make every visit to the exhibition a completely unique experience.”

“The Old Fortress of Corfu (Venetian: Fortezza Vecchia) is built on a rocky peninsula with two characteristic hills (top) and is the eastern end of the city. The location of the peninsula lies to the east of the ancient city of "Corcyra", between the Gulf of Corfu to the north and the Gulf of Garitsa to the south. This location was an ideal choice as it allowed easy access to the maritime network and full control of the neighboring coasts, while high fortifications in combination with the artificial moat made it impossible for any raider to access.”
