Buddhist Temple
“Sensoji is perhaps the most famous and photographed of Tokyo's temples. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in the capital, and the five-story pagoda, trails of incense and vast eaves will take you back to a Tokyo of time gone by. The approach to Sensoji, known as Nakamise Dori, is lined with about a hundred shops selling crafts, souvenirs and plenty of sweet and savory snacks. Throughout the year you can come across seasonal events held on the temple grounds. Some of the most popular include Asakusa-jinja Shrine’s Sanja Festival collaboration event in May, the hozuki (Chinese lantern plant) market in July and the photogenic hagoita decorative paddle market in December.”

Landmark
“Asakusa is Tokyo's best known shitamachi ("low town") - with an old-time, ramshackle feel, yet as clean and safe as anywhere in Tokyo. This must-see district is where kimono-clad visitors enjoy a retro Tokyo experience, athletic rickshaw drivers hawk rides around the district, and atmospheric stalls and restaurants offer a huge array of traditional foods and souvenirs.”

Store
“This is one of the oldest the busiest shopping streets in Japan! Everyone can enjoy this streets because this shopping street was established and advanced as a pilgrimage street starting from Kaminarimon gate to the main hall of Sensoji. About 90 shops of some food stands, or many different kinds of souvenir will absolutely attract you on the way to the temple. One notice is that, if you would like to enjoy shops, be sure to arrive here before 6PM! Many of the shops start closing from that time. But if you don’t care about shopping and would like to enjoy the lights in the night, it will be much more quiet and you can enjoy a beautiful light up of the temple, too!”

“The entrance to Omotesando entrance. It is officially called "Wind Thunder Gate" but it is called "Kaminarimon" in the official name because the statue of the goddess is placed between the right side facing the eighth leg gate and the thunder statue between the left side. The temporary gate was built for a long time after it was destroyed in the first year of Keio (1865) but in 1960 (1960) it was rebuilt in a reinforced concrete structure for the first time in about a century. Businessman, Mr. Konosuke Matsushita donated to the Asakusa Kannon for a treasure healed for praying. There is a large lantern donated by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Shrine
“On the right side of Sensoji temple main-hall, there is Asakusa shrine. It is interesting to know that, Buddhist Sensoji and Shintoism Shrine is staying together here. It is much smaller than temple, though, seeing its old architecture of more than 350 years old, and much more quiet and peaceful atmosphere are enough worth visiting. Sometimes on weekends, you can see a monkey show there, too! My recommend is to buy a cute amulets at the shrine office!”
