Visiting this house is like visiting an old friend. Its artful sensibilities provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will help you feel right at home. 10% of proceeds go to support a local non-profit that cares for the surrounding urban forest.
Foodies' Delight is a classic 1930s bungalow with hardwood floors, six steps to the porch and main floor, a flight of stairs leading to the basement laundry, shower, game, exercise area, and two small bedrooms. Guests use a keypad to enter--no keys necessary. When renting the house, the friendly cat remains (outside), and you will have the entire house and yard as your own private retreat for as long as you'd like to stay (minus the attic, the two small bedrooms in the basement, and garage.).

I'm more than happy to help you settle in, but otherwise plan to stay out of your way. I travel for my job, so may or may not be in the area when you are here. When I'm gone, my co-host will be happy to help if you need anything. I want to be sure you are comfortable and enjoy your time here!
If I am away on a Monday night during your stay, I ask that you set out the garbage and recycle bins (outside on the driveway side of the house) for pick up the next morning, then return the containers once emptied. Pick up happens around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
We have a low-maintenance, friendly farm cat that spends most of his time outdoors. He can go inside and out through his own window on the porch. If you rent the whole house, he can come into the house, but only if it's alright with you--but do let him out once you've said hello (he will want to go). Otherwise, we know that you're here to visit the area and not to pet-sit, so please consider him a visit-friendly outside cat. He is gray and white and doesn't wear a collar. His name is Brother Gordon.
You'll find joy here, but this is not a party house. The atmosphere is Armstrong, Dylan, Cash, Davis, Boublé, Winehouse. Low key guests only.
The house is suitable for infants, and children--ONLY if they are very well behaved and monitored at all times. Small objects are part of the ambiance of my home. If your child/ren are accustomed to "look, don't touch," you and they will enjoy being here. If they are accustomed to more liberty, this isn't the right place for them and you will be more comfortable elsewhere.
The backyard is a meditation garden with grasses, herbs and vegetables. The rock walls are hand-built and not to be walked or sat upon or disturbed in any way. Young children must be monitored at all times to keep them and and walls safe and sound. Thank you for respecting this space. It was built with love and care for you and I to find peace and renewal when sitting or walking in it.
The attic and spaces marked "Private" are off limits. The garage is a lovely place to spend a rainy morning outside. Contact me for the key.
Wet towels need to be hung on the bars provided in your room or the bathrooms. Please keep them off of the wood floors and furniture.
Airbnb and I agree that my home should be returned to me in the same condition you find it--clean and sound, with everything in place.
Guests staying over Monday night are asked to set out garbage and recycles bins Monday night. Garbage/Recycle pick up is early Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.
I love sharing my part of the world with people from around the planet. I've traveled to Ghana and can only hope to match the hospitality of the people there. Oliver Sacks' "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" is my book du jour--the brain is a fascinating mix of wonder and delight, no? I welcome you to bring a book of your own, steep a cup of tea, choose a couch, and relax. Or, drop your things in your room and step out to explore the fascinating neighborhood--with award winning chocolates, the best blue cheese burgers ever, Thai, Nepalese, Chinese, Tex-Mex food, American pies, bakeries, music, coffee shops, peaceful lakes, and corner grocery store ... all within 1-5 blocks of your stay. I'm easy going, like to stay out of the way; the cat goes out all night and purrs on the porch during the day. I hope you'll feel as comfortable here as as I do. Safe house.
