Back in 2008 I started the shared housing idea with some of my international friends in a small 3 bed-roomed house in Bukoto, Kampala. The steady growing interest of young internationals living in a shared serviced house arrangement motivated me to extend the business and services. I decided to move out of my own house to create another room for rental and just few months later even my new home I moved to was taken on by international guests.
In 2009 I decided to leave the two small houses behind move into a beautiful and much bigger house in Bukoto with an amazing garden and 4 bedrooms inside the main house. The drive to grow the business didn’t stop there. Quickly the store and an unused backside of the house turned into 3 more rooms and by mid 2010 the garden house as we know it now was set up. 15 to 20 tenants visiting the garden house in a year coming to explore Uganda and leaving highly satisfied with their living situation and as friends of the Muzuri family gave us another push to grow.
In 2012 Muzuri added a second house in Bukoto, just a few minutes up the road from the garden house. The house again was beautiful but had no much green on its concrete compound. So the first mission was beautification. Flowers were placed and planted everywhere, color added to the facade and a small beach created. It so became the Bukoto beach house, has nine rooms and is as popular among its tenants as the garden house is.
With two well operating houses in the Bukoto area the demand rose for more rooms and another location in Kampala. So in 2016 Muzuri Kampala took on another third and so far our latest house in Namuwongo an area close to the suburbs of Muyenga and Kansanga but also just a few minutes away from town. The so called Villa Namuwongo filled up with tenants quickly and has achieved high popularity in shortest time.
The business was created and is run by Beatrice Tusiime Mugenyi, who’s actual education lies in IT and former career was in the tourism sector. Supported by her brothers and sisters it is a mainly family run business with few added workers, who anyways have become part of our Muzuri family. The believe and starting small and growing big paired with positive energy has gotten us where we are today. The client is always our main priority and our aim is to satisfy our tenants at all times and give them the most incredibly experience staying in any of our houses. We take our business not just as a profession but also as passion and therefore we say:
Housing is our profession, creating a home our passion!
