This newly remodeled 2nd floor one bedroom apartment is in the heart of the Walled City.
The balcony is a delightful perch allowing you to enjoy the typically bustling Cartagena street below. Have a beverage and people watch to your heart's content!
Your apartment is within walking distance of all restaurants, museums and attractions within the old walls of Cartagena, as well as the hip, cool and artsy neighborhood of Getsemani.
The studio is one of 3 apartments (studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom), all located on the 2nd floor above a clothing shop on Calle de La Moneda in the historic Walled City. Upon entering the building you will walk up the stairs to a common hallway. Each apartment has its own secure door from this hallway.
The unit is perfect for one to four persons. The bed has a new firm and very comfortable mattress. A sofa bed in the common room can sleep two persons. An energy efficient mini split provides generous coolness on hot days. The kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a selection of pots and pans. Silverware, cups, plates, bowls and cooking utensils are also provided. Other amenities include large ceiling fans, cable tv, wireless internet access, tile throughout, wardrobe, a safe for valuables and of course the balcony!
The bathroom is beautiful and modern. We even have hot water which is not normally available everywhere in Cartagena.
In the hallway that accesses each apartment is a a cabinet which holds beach towels, extra soaps, extra toilet paper, extra pillows, and some tourist books and maps. Those items available to guests will be stored on the left side of the cabinet.
Yasmina, our caretaker, will be available to do laundry for guests at a charge of 5,000 pesos per load. (She will use a laundry bag labeled for each apartment making it hard to lose any of your laundry.) No laundry service on Sunday.
Benjamin will be at the apartment to meet you upon your arrival.

My home base is in Tucson, Arizona, close to the Mexican border and a culture that is very close to my heart. My love of Latin culture and the Spanish language was inspired by my Mexican grandmother. I have traveled extensively in Mexico, Central America and Colombia. I have been a hiking guide in the southwest (including the Grand Canyon) since 2000 and currently operate a guiding company in the Copper Canyon region of Mexico, home to the world renowned Tarahumarans.

Most visitors are attracted to Belize for the water. The Caribbean offers innumerable opportunities for exploration. Belizean waters boast a myriad of amazing sea creatures, among them the incredible, huge and docile manatee. This beautiful giant is everywhere threatened, but Belize boasts the largest number of remaining manatees in the world. Explore the water from diving and snorkeling to simply hanging out on the beach!
As amazing as the water is, what I find particularly appealing is the multi ethnicity of Ambergris Caye. One can stroll from one end of a street in San Pedro and hear not only English, the official language, but Spanish, Belizean creole and several dialects of Mayan. Want to pick up another language? Here’s your opportunity! People are open, friendly and kind.
Cartagena is a city like no other. Stroll aimlessly the streets of this World Heritage Site with a mind to simply "take it all in". There is so much history in this city! From forts and beautiful colonial buildings, to great restaurants and museums, the Old Walled City has it all. And of course there is the wall itself and the sea!
As in Belize, the Colombians are unbelievably friendly and the Cartageneros particularly so. The Caribbean openness and "laid back" culture infuse everyone and everything. Shop for a few days in the local supermarket, and you'll be having little old ladies asking your advice on which cut of meat to buy!
