We really enjoyed our stay at Lorena's place. She has clearly put a lot of thought into every detail (even her bottle openers are cool!) and strikes a nice balance between stylish and homey. There is a beautiful lemon tree in the backyard - a real treat for us east coast city folk. The location is a little off-the-beaten-path, but we didn't mind since we had a car. We also took BART to SF which was very easy - about 45 minutes door-to-door to Embarcadero. I would happily stay here again.
Lorena's house is a very unique place that was obviously done by a professional designer. The interesting lighting, art, and industrial style of many of the fixtures and decor makes you feel cool, but the house is also quite cozy. The beds and living room furniture were very comfortable, and the backyard very inviting. I stayed there with my husband, young daughter, and infant in addition to my mother and mother in law. The layout was conducive to hanging out but also to privacy when needed. Lorena was easy to get in touch with during our stay. I would certainly recommend staying at Lorena's place in Berkeley. It is in a quiet neighborhood, but also located close enough to restaurants, grocery stores, and public transportation. Keep in mind that the property is outside of the highlighted location circle on the listing page by about 2.5 blocks to the south. Also, we did see some ants in the kitchen and bathroom during our stay, which Lorena explained was due to the recent rain. They didn't bother us, but if you are particularly squeamish about bugs, you may want to inquire about this before booking in the rainy season (winter).
