I am an on-site host and happy to answer any questions you might have or make suggestions if you like. But I will mostly just give you space and privacy to enjoy your stay!
This is a private home with an adult household. Your self-contained unit is part of the house. It's private and fairly quiet but not soundproof: you will notice others in the house.

I moved to Portland six years ago from the midwest and continue to find reasons why this is a wonderful place to be. So much beauty, whether viewed from my back yard or from any of limitless perspectives in town and nearby. The neighborhoods are so fun to walk and explore. I do like seeing them on foot so that I can savor each step and what it reveals.
The past decade has been a time of significant transition for me, and I have come to see the re-creation of my home as a metaphor for the transformation of my life. I spend time helping others deal with the challenges of ending relationship and becoming a single person. Personal reflection is important to me, and the spaces I inhabit are designed to accommodate that.
The garden is my renewed experimentation with growing food and inviting color. I am learning a lot! This year I hope to extend the growing season by trying out cold frames.
I have traveled around the US and especially enjoy large cities where there is a different flavor in each section of town. I spent several months in central Africa a couple of years back; that experience shifted some perspectives for me about form and space. I made a few friends I hope to keep for life. It's been a pleasure to carry those things forward. If I am lucky, the day will again arrive when I can return and spend more time there.
Hosting for me means being attuned to what my guests desire. When you need suggestions, engagement, and connection... I am delighted to share what I have found. I also understand that sometimes you just want to be left alone. The space here accommodates that well.
I am a fan of jazz, funk, and soul music. Yoga, dance, delicious healthy food, good drink, and coffee each have a place in my life and heart! I read for pleasure and learning. I really enjoy getting to know people and their perspectives on life. We are all so unique! I'd love to meet and get to know you.
