In the heart of old Milan large and bright room in art nouveau building. Gorgeous quiet house in the city center, a few steps from the Navigli and the main monuments and museums of Milan. The Navigli area is characteristic for flew flower and vintage markets, bars, traditional courtyards architecture, music, artisans and artist ateliers, design and boat rides on the canals: the artificial waterways designed in part by Leonardo da Vinci. Well served by public transport (MM Porta Genova)

To see: traditional courtyards with ateliers and restaurants, Mudec Museum, Tortona Design District, vintage bazaar last sunday of every month, Basilica di Sant'Eustorgio and San Lorenzo Church.

Navigli is the name of the triangle bounded by Milan Naviglio Grande and the Naviglio Pavese which is headed by the Porta Ticinese dock and covering a large part of the southwestern quadrant of the city.
It is a charming district, where you can have an aperitivo Milanese (happy hour with free buffet) or have just a pleasant walk looking the traditional historic courtyard architecture.
The courtyards of Milan are not only architectural jewels but also a means of discovering the coolest addresses: artisans’ workshops, ateliers, concept stores, small atmospheric restaurants and the places where real artists live and work.
They are hidden behind large, inconspicuous doors. They open suddenly, like spaces of unexpected beauty. They are silent places that bid you welcome. They entice you at first glance and then surprise you with their details. ‘Courtyards’ are a typical feature of Milanese architecture.
There are two canals, which are called Naviglio Grande and the Naviglio Pavese (the word Naviglio itself means the Canal in Italian). Both of them are surrounded by different types of cafés, restaurants, bars, design shops, art galleries etc.
Take the green line with metro (from Central Station for example direction Famagosta) and take off in the stop called Porta Genova, the second alternative is as always the tram if you’d like to enjoy the city sight at the same time in your journey.
There is held the vintage bazaar every last Sunday of the month and if you are lucky you can catch it in your trip as well!

MUDEC The New Museum of Cultures of Milan is a center dedicated to the interdisciplinary research on the world cultures. Taking inspirations from the civic ethnographic collections and in partnership with our communities, intend to create a place where to dialogue on contemporary themes by the medium of visual, performing and sound art, design and costume.
Fundamental aims of the museum are
> the research, the collection and the preservation of non European cultures, in their material and intangible expressions
> the promotion of a public participation in the enhancement of the past, present and future heritage of the museum > the promotion of an active dialogue with all the involved communities: the ones identified with the Forum della Città Mondo, the ones which recognize the heritage of the museum as a fundamental element of their culture identity, the ones which are interested in the museum themes due to their own interest, profession, or just to take inspiration for their creativity.

"The Navigli System has discovered new growth areas in recent years.
There are 5 great itineraries boat itineraries: a new way to get to know some of the most picturesque landscapes in the area from a totally new perspective: Is a wonderfull way to show you the charms and attractions of the Navigli area.
Leonardo da Vinci spent much of his life in Milan and Lombardy. He first arrived in 1482 at the age of 30 to enter the court of Ludovico il Moro as an engineer to build defensive fortifications and war machines and as he said himself: “(…)In time of peace I believe I can give you as complete satisfaction as anyone else in architecture and in the construction of buildings both public and private, and in conducting water from one place to another. Also I can execute sculpture in marble, bronze or clay, and also painting, in which my work will stand comparison with that of anyone else whoever he may be.” He remained at the Court of the Sforzas until 1499, when the French took possession of the Duchy of Milan, and the first place he stayed when he left was Vaprio d’Adda where he was a guest at Villa Melzi. He then returned to Milan, summoned by the Duke d’Amboise, and stayed there from 1508 to 1513, to then return to Florence and travel to France, to Amboise, where he died in 1519.
Atlantic Codex, the largest codex which is kept in Milan in the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana. And it is to his genius that we owe the mitre gates for canal locks known as da Vinci gates which he drew (Codiex Atlanticus f. 656a r, Milano, Biblioteca Ambrosiana) for the Martesana which finally entered Milan in the final years of the 16th century and fulfilled the dream of the Sforzas to join the waters of the Adda with the Ticino. Da Vinci gates are still in use on canals all over the world."
